Potty Training...

It's that time..time for me to get Hope potty trained. She is 3 1/2 and has no interest what so ever!! I need help, I will take any and all suggestions. Nothing I do seems to work. I would love for her to do a 2 day a week preschool, she is so ready but the diaper thing just won't work for that. And did I mention she's 3 1/2!!

She did get a kick out of this funny video.

Desiree,
Abigail turned 3 a few weeks ago. I'll be a bit candid here. She CAN go potty on the potty chair but has not chosen to do so. She's even further away from pooping on the potty. She likes to stand up to go. It's on her time.
With Grace coming home at the end of the month, this may not be the time to start trying to get Hope to potty train. Although I know she is totally excited about bringing Grace home, it will be a very stressful time for her as she will no longer be the baby of the family. I would say leave the potty thing alone for a while.
The pre-school Abigail goes to doesn't have a potty policy, so that's good. You may want to check out some smaller programs. They would be a little more likely to be flexible.

Thanks Jeanne. That is what I thought, but I am so frustrated because she knows what to do, just chooses no to. I do expect some jealosy and regression on Hope's part.

Desiree,

I'm not sure I would worry about it either, if she is showing no interest at all. Tess has been potty trained for a long time now. But, she pretty much did it on her own. At the time, if you would have asked me if she was ready, I would have said, "NO WAY!" But, she proved me wrong :-)

Olivia was driven by rewards of jelly beans. Tess, however, couldn't have cared less for any kind of reward.

I guess every kid is different and they will eventually do it when they're ready. You have enough to be stressed about right now...if you don't have to, I wouldn't add any more stress to your days.

Keeping you all in my prayers!

Love,
Jan

I agree, I wouldn't push the potty training thing with Grace coming home soon.

One thing I did with Chris is to buy underwear and then put the plastic pants you put over cloth diapers over the underwear. He knew when he wet, and there wasn't a huge mess for me to clean up.

I love the video.
