Snapshot Sunday ~ Hannah

Our sweet Hannah, our first born. She is the one that said we are now a family.

We didn't have an easy time starting a family and then half way through I was told to quit my job and stay home, not necessarily on bedrest but no heavy lifting or major activities.

She is a strong girl who doesn't care much what other's think. She does her own thing and enjoys being herself. Hannah has taken each and every one of our moves (7 houses and 10 moves total) all in stride and not complained. (much LOL)

She is my helper.

Hannah traveled with us back in 2006 to China for Hope. She enjoyed and really loved everything Chinese. She would go out and explore with me and ask questions and learn from all things.

What, no pictures???

Yep, you got it. I took absolutely no pictures on Thanksgiving or the day after. Crazy isn't it?

We did have a very nice dinner with family. It was quite yummy!!

The Duchess and I then went off to bed early so we could get up before the rooster crows to head out with all the other crazy people to get in line for my most coveted prize.

We were up and out the door Friday by 4 am. I did get the very lats item in the store and saved a grand total of $50 on said item. We then headed to Targ*t and watched the madness but didn't purchase anything. By 7am we were both hungry and a little tired, time for a pick me up!! Headed to the local Borders.

Can you believe we were the ONLY people in the store?!?! I am an avid reader and to have no one interested in books....aah the shame of it all. So anyway, we ordered some most needed caffeine and sat and enjoyed the books for an hour before heading out again.

All in all a great day with my Duchess. It was a day of mommy daughter greatness!!

I did get some pictures on Saturday though. We didn't do much. Headed out around town. Just browsing and looking at things. You do that when you are still getting used to a place.

I also changed the blog a bit again. Prince Charming does not like his picture in the header so I decided to fix it and do some adjustments. What do you all think??

The colors are ok, I am not loving it but it will do for now. I had a design I really liked but did not copyright it so someone came along and "borrowed" it and now I can't have two alike so I changed mine....

One more thing, I have a new style headband available!! I am super excited about this one and love the way it looks!! Please check out the sewing blog. There is also a giveaway there if you order.

Waiting

on our LOA still. I am ok with waiting, it gives me a chance to sew and make more headbands. The orders have slowed down quite a bit but I still have one a week. Right now I am very thankful for those orders. To all of my friends who have bought a headband/apron ect. Thank you!!

What we did get was an official update from our agency. Several cute pictures and measurements. She is growing and looks so big in the new pictures, however she is still a peanut only weighing in at 8.8 kgs. She has 8 teeth and a beautiful smile. Hope has actually suggested going with us to bring her home and those of you that know my girl know she is terrified of going back to China. But isn't this sweet face worth it??

One more little thing. Is anyone else getting tired of my ever changing blog designs?? I really liked the one with the green paisley, however after designing it, I was browsing my list of blogs and found someone who had almost the same exact thing....so, I changed mine because you know you just can't have two of the same designs out there....

So what do y'all think? I am not quite sure about this one but will keep it up for a couple days...

Unexpected surprise...

I was browsing Etsy the other day and came across a pattern I liked, so I bought it. Aimee emailed me and said I get a free pattern with the one I purchased. Now, how awesome is that. (yea, it's the little things that excite me) So I chose this one.

What do I plan on doing with this pattern you may ask? Well my plan is to make as many little pairs of shoes as I can until we get our travel approval and take them with us as a gift for the orphanage. We all know (at least those of us in the adoption world) that the orphanages can use all the shoes they can get. And what better way to do this than sew each pair with love?!?! This will also keep me occupied and make time go by quickly.

Any volunteers want to help me out??

Where to even begin....

So much going on I have no idea where to start. This move has been by far the hardest as far as transition and the kids' adjustment. The Little's seem to be doing ok, it's the big kids that have had the most difficult time. (and yes, we've been here almost 8 mths now) Their grades haven't suffered but the attendance and sickness and overall adjustment.....well, it's been a long road and still we are working on it.

G had her hearing and speech evaluation. She did pretty well. They told me she is highly intelligent. (like I didn't know that) the only problem is her articulation. She has a hard time being understood. We kind of expected that, after all she had a huge hole in her palate. The funny thing, she could be understood better when she was yelling at her sister versus being asked questions. And yes, we did hear some yelling amongst the Little's, not just your ordinary fighting but an all out knock down screaming match. It wasn't pretty y'all. I wish I could have dropped through a hole in the floor. It was that bad. And over a silly plastic toy band aid. Good thing the meeting was almost over and we ran out of there.

Now just one more meeting to go with the school and one more ent and hopefully we will be on our way to speech therapy.

I could really use a set schedule. Maybe that is what's missing here. It just takes time to re-establish one and this move like I said has really thrown us. I guess if you figure my surgery, JJ's post placement, a new baby waiting in China, starting the speech process and numerous other things, well anyone would feel lost...right?

Checking in....

It's been a pretty tough week here. Lots going on. Amazingly enough we have gotten pictures from a visiting family and an official update from our agency!! Our sweet Rachel is getting bigger by the day.

We should be recieveing our LOA (letter of acceptance) soon. Please consider purchasing a headband to help out with our adoption expenses. I have sold a total of 49 and have 551 to go. They make great Christmas gifts and only cost $8.00!! If you can please grab our button and post about my fundraiser.
Thank you!!
