Happy "Gotcha Day" Rachel!!

Our first glimpse of Rachel. A typical mugshot.

Followed by a cute impish photo. If only we knew at the time how much this particular picture shows her personality.

And now, our girl is so full of life and happy. Stubborn even. She knows at 2 what she wants and trys her hardest to get it.

Hours after eye surgery she was up and running.  I don't think there is anything in this life she will not accomplish.

Happy forever family day sweety!! We love you and are so blessed to be able to have a daughter like you.

A reminder ~

It is estimated that between 147,000,000 and 210,000,000 children are orphans.

Every day . . .

5,760 more children in the world become orphans.

EVERY 2.2 SECONDS another orphan ages out, with no family and no home.

1.5 million children live in public care in Central and Eastern Europe

12.4 million orphans live in Latin America and the Carribean

43.4 million orphans live in sub-Saharan Africa

87.6 million orphans live in Asia

Roughly 6% of all children in Asia are orphans, with 7.7 million orphaned in 2010 alone.

16 million children were orphaned in 2003

Every 14 seconds a child is orphaned as a result of AIDS

800,000 children in the American Foster Care system each year

20,000 young people “age out” of the U.S. foster care system each year. Of these only a little over 50% will earn a high school diploma.

Just because sometimes we need to remember . . .

Just the Girls ~

well, minus one...Hope stayed home. She wasn't to into the whole driving anywhere thing....

And to be honest we just went out so my little monkey Rachel would take a nap~ You see after her surgery, her schedule is all messed up and she is afriad to sleep in her crib. She wakes up screaming and climbs out.

I am so afraid she will fall or hurt herself. And today she needed a nap so desperately that we just drove somehwere anywhere.

We started at a alocal art show, but it was less than exciting. So we ended up at a local farm.

Which kind of fits in with what we are doing at home....growing a garden. Trying to save some money on groceries. It's working, I am going to have so many tomatos and peppers we will be eating them for years!!

And maybe pumpkins or watermelon or maybe it's cantelope. I can't be sure, my signs got blown away in a storm and I am not really sure what they are just that they are taking over our lawn!!

Rachel got a pretty good hour nap so we took a walk and then decided to sample the treats.

And as you can tell Rachel was very happy about that. There isn't much she gets upset about. Unless of course you try to take her food.

Then watch out.....

This is what I call a treat and so worth the hour drive in the car for my sweety to nap.

Of course said sweety wanted nothing to do with the ice cream...she is all about the good stuff. Like hot buttered corn and picking all the fruit out of our ice cream.

But it's all good and so worth the drive ~

Needing a Dad ~

and a mommy to!! The precious little girl is Sadie. She was born January 2002. Her special need is listed as "post op cleft spine" in other words post op spina bifida.

She has a zest for life and always a smiling happy face. She can mover her legs but requires a wheelchair or walker to get around.

Wasatch has her file for a couple more weeks, although Kathy said that Sadie has a special place in her heart and would be willing to transfer her file to your agency if need be.

She is currently at Eagle's Wing in Henen. And as much as that is a wonderful place to be what this precious child needs is a forever family.

Please don't let her go back to the shared list adn become one of thousands listed.

Summer Fun

No, we haven't fallen off the face of the earth ~ yet. LOL Some days it may seem that way.

Just super busy. Two boys on two different baseball teams playing three days a week at two different fields plus two kids in braces with appoinments twice a month and the two littles with two surgeries in June. Plus a little something added to the mix.

Goodness just typing it all out makes me tired!! The good news is it won't last forever and when it's gone I will miss all this.

We do find time to have some fun.

Like for instance the park I used to go to when I was little. It's still there!!

With some added features of course!

And such fun for everyone.

Hope to start updating more often. Rachel's surgery is scheduled for monday. It's out patient but still a surgery. Prayers would be appreciated.
